Terms of Use for Kounts Apps

Welcome! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of our mobile applications: Kounts (event countdown app), Kounts Dose (medication tracker app), and Kounts Care (plant and pet care app), collectively referred to as the "Applications," and all related services. By downloading and using any Application, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Applications.

Medical Disclaimer (Kounts Dose)

Kounts Dose is a personal organiser for your own medication routine. It does not provide medical advice, dosage recommendations, or drug-interaction checks, and it is not a medical device. Always follow the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, such as your doctor or pharmacist. Never rely on the app as a substitute for professional medical judgement, and always confirm what and when to take with your prescriber.

Veterinary & Plant Care Disclaimer (Kounts Care)

Kounts Care is a reminder and record-keeping tool for looking after your plants and pets. It does not provide veterinary, medical or professional horticultural advice, and it is not a diagnostic tool. Care intervals, seasonal adjustments and weather nudges are general suggestions, not instructions tailored to your animal or plant.

Toxicity warnings are drawn from publicly available reference data, including the ASPCA's list of toxic and non-toxic plants, and are provided for information only. They may be incomplete or wrong for a given species, variety or animal, and the absence of a warning never means a plant is safe. Always check with a vet before letting a pet near an unfamiliar plant.

In an emergency, contact a veterinarian or an animal poison control service immediately. Do not rely on the app.

Plant Identification Disclaimer (Kounts Care)

Plant identification is automated and produces a best guess, not a verified determination. Results can be wrong, and they must never be used to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, to touch, or to keep near a child or an animal. Always confirm the species yourself before acting on it.

1. APPLICATION LICENSE

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Applications for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works from the Application
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, or otherwise transfer the Application
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application
  • Use the Application for any commercial purpose or for any public display
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Application or related systems

2. IN-APP PURCHASES & SUBSCRIPTIONS

Our apps offer free tiers and optional premium purchases. Each app's offering is described below.

Kounts Premium Subscription

Kounts offers a free version and optional premium subscription tiers:

Free Forever

The basic version of Kounts is completely free to use forever with no expiration. You can:

  • Create and manage up to 15 upcoming event countdowns at a time (events that have passed, and countdowns shared with you by someone else, do not count towards this limit)
  • Track up to 3 Milestones and keep up to 3 photos per event
  • Use default categories and colors, and the Classic card style
  • Access all core features indefinitely at no cost

Yearly Premium ($9.99/year)

The Yearly Premium subscription includes:

  • Up to 10 custom categories
  • Custom colors and symbols for your events
  • All card styles and accent color options
  • Calendar sync feature
  • 7 days free trial, then $9.99 per year

Billing: Your subscription will renew automatically each year unless cancelled. You will be notified before each renewal.

Lifetime Premium ($19.99 once)

The Lifetime Premium subscription is a one-time purchase that grants you permanent access to all premium features:

  • Up to 10 custom categories
  • Custom colors and symbols for your events
  • All card styles and accent color options
  • Calendar sync feature
  • One-time payment of $19.99
  • Never expires, with no recurring charges

Important: This is a one-time purchase. You will not be charged again unless you choose to make another purchase.

Kounts Dose Purchases

Kounts Dose is free to use with one medicine and its core reminders — including critical alarms, which are never paywalled. An optional purchase, Dose Plus, unlocks the full app:

Dose Plus Lifetime ($9.99 once)

A single one-time purchase that unlocks all Dose Plus features permanently:

  • Unlimited medicines
  • The full flexible scheduler (multiple times a day, specific days, cycles, courses, as needed)
  • Home & Lock Screen widgets
  • Optional iCloud sync and history (CSV) export
  • One-time payment — never expires, no recurring charges

Important: This is a one-time purchase. You will not be charged again unless you choose to make another purchase.

Dose Plus Monthly ($1.99/month)

For those who prefer to pay as they go, Dose Plus is also available as an optional auto-renewing monthly subscription:

  • All Dose Plus features, month to month
  • $1.99 per month, billed through your Apple account
  • Renews automatically each month until cancelled; cancel anytime

Billing: The monthly subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. No subscription is required — the one-time Lifetime purchase unlocks everything without any recurring charge.

Kounts Care Purchases

Kounts Care is free to use for up to 5 plant or pet profiles. Care counters, every task type, seasonal adjustment, on-device plant identification and toxicity warnings are never paywalled. Kounts Care Premium unlocks the rest, and is available as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a single lifetime purchase. All three are Family Sharing enabled.

Free

Free forever, with no expiry. You can:

  • Keep up to 5 active plant or pet profiles (archived and memorial profiles do not count)
  • Use every care counter and task type, plus the growth log and its photos
  • See all toxicity warnings and use on-device plant identification, unlimited
  • Look up an exact species online 3 times (identification keeps working on-device afterwards, and manual search is always available)
  • Keep 1 active sitter link at a time and 90 days of growth chart history
  • Use the profile widget, and share your household with the people you live with

Care Premium Monthly ($2.99/month)

All Premium features, month to month:

  • Unlimited profiles
  • Unlimited online species lookups
  • Unlimited growth chart history
  • Up to 10 active sitter links at a time
  • The full widget pack
  • Timelapse, before and after, CSV and PDF exports
  • 1 week free trial, then $2.99 per month

Billing: Renews automatically each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel anytime.

Care Premium Yearly ($19.99/year)

The same Premium features, billed once a year:

  • Everything in Care Premium Monthly
  • 1 week free trial, then $19.99 per year

Billing: Renews automatically each year unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You will be notified before each renewal.

Care Premium Lifetime ($34.99 once)

A one-time purchase that unlocks every Premium feature permanently:

  • Everything in Care Premium, for good
  • One-time payment of $34.99
  • Never expires, with no recurring charges

Important: This is a one-time purchase. You will not be charged again unless you choose to make another purchase.

3. SUBSCRIPTION MANAGEMENT & CANCELLATION

You can manage your subscription directly through your device's app store settings:

  • iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → select the app → Manage Subscription
  • Cancel Anytime: You can cancel any auto-renewing subscription (Kounts Yearly, Dose Plus Monthly, or Care Premium Monthly or Yearly) at any time. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
  • Refund Policy: Refunds are governed by Apple's refund policy. Where a subscription includes a free trial, cancelling during the trial means you are not charged. Requests made after the trial period may be denied.

4. USER CONTENT

All content you create in our Applications — event countdowns, medications, schedules, dose history, plant and pet profiles, care history, growth photos and measurements, presets, categories, notes, and images ("User Content") — is entirely your own. You retain all rights to your User Content. By using the Applications, you grant us a limited license to use your User Content only to provide and improve the Applications' functionality.

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you maintain complete control over your User Content. We do not access, analyze, or use your personal data for any other purpose.

5. HOUSEHOLD SHARING & SITTER LINKS (KOUNTS CARE)

Kounts Care lets you share your care data in two ways. Both are optional, and both put you in charge of who gets access:

  • Household sharing: people you invite can see and edit every profile in your household, including notes and growth photos, and their entries appear in your history. Invitations work as capability links, so anyone who opens one can join. Only invite people you trust, and remove members you no longer want to have access.
  • Sitter links: a sitter link publishes a limited, read-only snapshot (the next 14 days of tasks, your sitter notes, your emergency contact and any toxicity cautions) to a web page that needs no account. Anyone holding the link can open it until it expires or you revoke it. Treat a sitter link like a password, share it only with your sitter, and revoke it when the stay is over.

You are responsible for the content you put into shared profiles, sitter notes and emergency contact fields, for having the right to share any personal information about other people that you include, and for who you hand these links to. We cannot control what a recipient does with data you have shared with them.

6. COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS

You agree to use the Applications in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Applications does not violate any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights.

7. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

THE APPLICATIONS ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING THE APPLICATIONS, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Applications will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Applications will be compatible with all devices or iOS versions
  • Your data will never be lost

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF BUSINESS, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Application or subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. TERMINATION

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Applications at any time, with or without cause, including if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the Applications is revoked
  • You must delete the Applications from your device
  • Any unused portion of your subscription will not be refunded (except as required by law)

10. CHANGES TO THE APPLICATION & TERMS

We reserve the right to modify the Applications and these Terms at any time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you through the Applications or via email. Your continued use of the Applications following notification of changes constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Applications may integrate with third-party services such as Google Analytics, Apple StoreKit, Apple CloudKit, Apple Weather (WeatherKit) and Apple Intelligence. Kounts Care's optional online plant identification step also uses Pl@ntNet, an independent plant-identification service. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the performance, functionality, or data practices of third-party services.

Third-party features may change, become unavailable, or be limited by the provider at any time. Online plant identification in particular depends on a third-party service and a working connection, and we cannot guarantee its availability or accuracy.

12. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is located, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding related to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction.
